Fred Lange was born November 14, 1892, to Mr. and Mrs. William Lange at Rising City, NE.
On January 9, 1915 he was united in marriage to Ethel Williams at Tyndall, South Dakota. They farmed in Charles Mix county until 1935 when they moved to Springfield, South Dakota. Fred resided in Springfield until his death. Fred and Ethel were the parents of eight children.
Funeral services for Fred Lange 65, were held Friday afternoon, September 26, at 200 p.m. at the Springfield Congregational church. The Reverand B. J. Trickey officiated and interment was in the Springfield cemetery. The Crosby Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Art Gretschman, Fred Felton, Percy Coleman, George Warrington, Lyle Irish and Tony DeRoos. Survivors besides the widow are five daughters, Marie, Mrs. Woodrow Johnson; Betty, Mrs. Clifford Nelson of Springfield; Lucille, Mrs. Charles Morton of Tyndall; Viola, Mrs. Dale Meyers of Long Beach, California; and Rosada, Mrs. Alan Nelson of San Gabriel, California. Two sons, Leonard and Leslie of Springfield.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Harold Kibble of Springfield; Mrs. Louis Mach of Tripp; Mrs. Alice Alden, Wanblee; Mrs. Reuben Smith of Spearfish and two brothers, Ted of Newell and Hubert of Fort Pierre. There are 10 grandchildren surviving. He was preceded in death by one child (Edith), his parents, one brother and one sister.
